Curry scored more points in semifinal against Serbia than in previous four Olympic games

In the semifinal against the Serbian national team, American point guard Stephen Curry scored more points than he had in the previous four games combined. Against Serbia, Curry scored 36 points, a significant increase from his total of 29 points in the three group stage games and the quarterfinals.

The United States eventually prevailed over Serbia in a hard-fought 95-91 victory (23:31, 20:23, 20:22, 32:15). In addition to his 36 points, Curry also contributed 8 rebounds and 2 assists.

The Americans will now face the French team in the gold medal match. The highly anticipated match is scheduled for tomorrow, August 10, with kickoff set for 22:30 Moscow time. Earlier in the day, Germany and Serbia will face off in the bronze medal match.

“Steph was phenomenal tonight,” praised USA head coach Gregg Popovich. “He really carried us when we were struggling to find our rhythm offensively. His ability to create his own shot and make plays for his teammates was a difference maker.”

Curry's standout performance against Serbia came at a crucial time for Team USA. After making it through the group stage, they faced a talented Serbian team led by NBA stars Nikola Jokić and Bogdan Bogdanović.

“Serbia is a heck of a team, and they came out and punched us in the mouth early,” Curry said. “But we weathered the storm, made some adjustments and I was able to get it going. At this point, you just have to find a way to win, no matter how it happens.”

The decisive nature of the semifinal brought out the best in Curry, who has thrived on the big stage throughout his career. His combination of precision shooting, shot creation and playmaking proved too much for the Serbians to handle.

“Steph is just on another level,” teammate Jayson Tatum marveled. “The way he can take over a game, make everybody around him better — it’s really special to be a part of that. We’re going to need that same energy and execution tomorrow against France if we’re going to win gold.”

The championship game will pit Curry against his Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson, who will be wearing the colors of France. It promises to be a highly anticipated clash between two of the NBA's greatest shooters and teammates.

“It’s going to be an epic battle,” Curry said with a smile. “Klay and I have been through so much together, and we know each other’s game inside out. But at the end of the day, we both want to win for our countries. May the best man and the team win.”

Regardless of the outcome, Curry's performance at these Olympics cemented his status as one of the greatest players of all time. His ability to elevate his game on the biggest stage was a sight to behold, and only solidified his legacy as a transcendent superstar.

“Steph Curry is a one-of-a-kind talent,” said former NBA player and current analyst Chauncey Billups. “The way he can single-handedly take control of a game, make the impossible seem routine — it’s truly impressive. He’s solidified his place as one of the all-time greats, and these Olympics have only added to his legend.”
