Stephen Curry repeats Robinson, Shaquille and Durant's title by winning the 2024 Olympics

The United States men's national basketball team won the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on the night of August 10-11. In the final, the Americans beat the French national team by a score of 98-87.

Point guard Stephen Curry, 36, of the NBA's Golden State Warriors and the U.S. national team, has won the Olympic gold medal. In doing so, Curry became the fourth basketball player in the world to win an Olympic gold medal, a world championship, an NBA title and an NBA MVP award in his career. The exclusive club he joined includes David Robinson, Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Durant.

During the 2024 Olympic gold medal game, Curry logged 29 minutes and 37 seconds of playing time, during which he scored 24 points, grabbed 1 rebound, dished out 5 assists, and recorded 2 steals.

“It’s a dream come true,” an elated Curry said after the game. “It’s really special to be able to add an Olympic gold medal to my list of accomplishments in my career. I’m so proud of this team and everything we’ve been able to accomplish together.”

Curry's performance in the finals was a masterclass in clutch shooting and floor leadership. While the French made a late push to try to close the gap, it was Curry's timely three-point shooting and precise playmaking that kept the Americans in control.

“Steph was absolutely phenomenal on the court,” U.S. head coach Gregg Popovich marveled. “He refused to let this team be denied gold. That’s the kind of leadership and competitive spirit that makes him one of the greatest players of all time.”

French star Evan Fournier, who faced Curry for much of the game, had nothing but praise for the American superstar. “Curry is just on another level. No matter how tight we played him, he always found a way to get open and make a big shot. He completely controlled the tempo and flow of the game. You can game plan all you want, but there’s no stopping him when he goes out there like that.”

With the Olympic title now secured, Curry will once again focus on chasing more NBA championships with the Warriors. At 36, he is still performing at an elite level and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

“I feel just as hungry and motivated as I did when I first came into the league,” Curry said. “Winning this gold medal has only fueled my desire to continue to compete at the highest level and add to my legacy. This is far from the end for me – I still have a lot to accomplish.”
